Just a quick update tonight. I'm suffering lady cramps today. They hurts :(
Anyhoot, I wanted purple nails today and I love orange with purple so I ended up with little monsters on my nails (hehe GaGa reference) I think they're cute...though I got a little impatient so they're a bit messed up now >.>

And because I can, a better shot of the thumb! Grrr! hehe

What I used: Sirray in 111 as my base. Rimmel London in Tangerine Queen for the monsters. Hawley Manicure pen in black for all of the black and white acrylic paint.

I stole Renee again and did her nails, this time with chocolate icing and sprinkles! The sprinkles could have been better but I still think it's cute :)

What I used: Avon in French Tip Lilac for the base colour. Acrylic paint for the chocolate. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum, Modelista in hot pink and the nameless lavender again!

I'm resisting from painting my nails again this weekend, I feel like I should keep the ocean theme for a while as it's the most complex thing I've done in a while so it deserves some extra time. But I have all these ideas buzzing in my head of what I want to do next! Some say I'm obsessed...

I set out to do something different last night and I ended up having a lot of fun with it. I used paint this time around as there were a lot of layers and I could imagine the sticky mess I'd be in if I just used polish. So, here we have it, my under the ocean/underwater/sea inspired manicure.

Left Hand:
From thumb to little finger: Clam and seaweed, a little fishy, seaweed and bubbles, seaweed and coral, and finally a starfish (sorta)

Right Hand:
From little finger to thumb: a fishy!, seaweed, another clam, coral and seaweed and finally another starfish and seaweed.

I like how it turned out and it was a lot of fun experimenting with this mani. I'd like to attempt it again with some other ideas...more than just clams and starfishies lol

What I used: On my thumb, ring finger and index finger I blended Curiouser by SportsGirl on the tip of the nail with clear polish.
On my little finger and pointer I blended Curiouser by SportsGirl, Blue Lagoon by SportsGirl and Blue Steel by Chi Chi again with clear polish.
Topped them with a coat of Blue Glitter by Ultra3 then used acrylic paints for the foreground all topped with two coats of Out the Door to seal them up.

Two things to talk about here today. First, I was given the Sweet Blog Award by Less Than A Queen :D
I'm really starting to feel like I'm part of the Blogger/Nail Blogger community now so thanks so much everyone for that!

Here's what you guys have to do:
- Make a post about the award including the picture and mention the person who gave it to you.
- Put the award on your blog.
- Let your nominated 10 know you've awarded them by leaving a comment.

Now I have to nominate 10 others! Unfortunately, a lot of people already have this award so I'm just going to nominate a few that I don't believe have it...

You all deserve it, ladies :)

Second, I've entered a contest by Jackie at Candy Coated Tips. It's purple themed! Click on the photo below if you'd like to check it out/enter too. I'm loving the polishes up for grabs, lookit those colours!

I painted my nails last night and I've got the photos and everything done but I don't want to overload on designs and look like I'm obsessed with doing my nails (even though I am) so that will be posted some time today. Also, Renee asked me to play with her nails again so I should be doing that today...I have to come up with some ideas...

Thanks for reading! :)

Wow, so much to say in this here post. First, I'm now a member of the Gumleaf Mafia which is so darn awesome! Those are the girls that inspired me to record and share what I like to do with my nails and now I'm listed with them. Ohh yeah. Also, it's introduced some new followers/subscribers to my blog so thank you so much! I think that's super awesome and all that jazz!

Second, I cut mah nails, the length was driving me crazy! However, I cut too much than I intended but hey, they'll grow. Lately I've been throwing on a really thin layer of acrylic to help keep my nails strong, they're so soft usually and it also stops polish from chipping so that's awesome.

Anyway, to the nail art! I messed around trying to find something to do with this length so I tried that "on nail marbling" where you blend with a top coat. Worked out quite cool if you ask me ;)

What I used; Again, that unamed lavender that I'm in love with! Blending with Ultra3 in Bo Peep. Lastly CoverGirl in White Night for the peace signs and finally a coat of Out The Door.

What I want to ask is if anyone has advice for nail art for shorter nails? What do you think would look good on my nails? haha

Hello, hello there! I've tried out something different and gone with a "pretty" design. Kawaii Strawberries. I personally really like it, however shoddy my strawberries look. It all comes with practice, as they say.
The colours are close to true in the photograph however I could only take the photo early this morning so it's a bit lighter than it is in person. Still a good representations though.

What I used: Again the nameless lavender! Ultra3's Baby Pink and Bo Peep mixed for the strawberries. Ultra3 in honolulu, ChiChi in Jitterbug and Sportsgirl in Duchess mixed for the green. And CoverGirl in White Night for the background.

So, what do you think?

Yep, got bored of the pandas. I've been trying to figure out how to do a set of Star Wars nails for a while and I came up with this. Much like a knuckle tattoo, its the title of the Saga and Vader and Luke's light sabers :) I didn't think I'd pull this one off, "writing" with my left hand but I think it looks pretty good!

Here's a close up of the thumbs/light sabers.

What I used! Rimmel London 60 Seconds in Black Out. CoverGirl in White Night. I mixed Ultra3's Honolulu and Rimmel London's Sunshine for the yellow. NYC in Snazzle, some nameless red lol and Chi Chi in Jitterbug.

So, what you think?

I was quite bored this evening and had a hankering for doing some nail art but alas, I like my Tiny Pandas too much and think they should last more than a day, at least! So I borrowed my brother's lovely girlfriend Renee and had some fun. Plus she gave me the divine lavender colour I used for the base coat! I've been looking for a purple in that shade for quite a while. I love how this mani turned out, it's quite lovely!

What I used: Rossburn Cosmetics, which has no name! The lavender colour. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum, Ultra3 in Baby Pink, Ultra3 in Bo Peep and Hawley Manicure Pen/Brush in Black.

Guess what? I'm sick again! Yay! :( Caught another cold, this one is extra horrible. So last night I thought to make myself smile I'll do some cute/colourful nails. That failed, completely. I just couldn't get it right so I just threw on a colour and called it a night.

I wasn't satisfied with it this morning so I thought for a while and decided I'd try again. And here is my result, Tiny Pandas! (Get it, like Giant Pandas haha) It's cute and makes me smile when I feel like crap so it's done it's job!

This is a picture in the sun so you can see the prettiness of the silver. And here's a close up of the thumb.

Overall I'm really pleased with this design, it's really quite cute. I'd like to add some bamboo the next time I attempt it!

What I used!
Base Coat:
  • One coat of N.Y.C in Snazzle
  • One coat of Satin in #37 (rainbow glitter)
Pandas:
  • CoverGirl in White Night
  • Hawley Manicure pen in Black
  • Ultra3 in Baby Pink for the cheeks :)

I've been thinking about what else I can add to my blog to help other nail geeks and to get in deeper about my hobby. I'm thinking about sharing what tools I use to get the looks I want, as I don't have the "official" tools (lack of funds) And also how I organise my polishes. I'm not sure if many people would be interested but I think it could entertain myself!

Anyway, until next time, take care!

artistique-meg Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Hello there, I'm back! I've been visiting my lovely boyfriend in Melbourne this past week so I haven't been doing anything too fancy with my nails. I did buy some polishes though! Two from Sportsgirl and another from Inglot. The poor bugger walked around with me in David Jones/Myer/Inglot scoping out polishes. I do love him so.

Anyway, so from Inglot I got myself their matte black which is freaking awesome! I want it in every colour or at least a top coat that will turn polish matte. That would be amazing. Black is a harsh colour and with my pale/pink coloring it tends to make my fingers look extra pink so I decided the best way to compliment my new polish would be with a little touch from Konad!

What I used: One-Two coats of Inglot's Matte Black 730. I used the Konad plate M19 for the "feature nail" and layered it, and M57 for the rest with NYC Color in Snazzle.

I really like this manicure however I'm not sure how long it will last since I can't use a top coat. We'll see!

I've wanted one of these sets for a long while now. I love the movie Coraline! It's so darn adorable and the score is beautiful. A French chorus...need I say more!? Anyhoot, this Konad kit is adorable with some gorgeous stamp plates and even fantasticer (a la Meg dictionary) special polishes!
Just check this shizz out!

$AU53.56 at Wowsocool.com
However Konad have been super crafty and created two kits....with different stamp plates. And you can't buy these nail plates separately. See what I mean? Super crafty. Because I love two plates endlessly...one is in Kit I and the other in Kit II

So that is why they're on my wishlist. Because I'll never really buy them lol I may try to get my hands on the special polishes though, one day!

Today's nail art is something I've wanted to try for a long time! It's not an easy design but I'm proud that I could do it. I want to practice it on someone else, one of my classmates will become my victim! Anyways so it's a lilac base with a Hello Kitty french tip, pretty cool if I do say so myself!

It's not perfect or totally neat but I think it looks good when you're not picking at every flaw! Here's a close up of the thumb so you can really see what's going on.

It was fun to do and it's super cute so all in all I'm pleased with it!

For this design I used: Ultra3 in Plum Violet for the base, Professional Nail Care in White for the tips, Hawley Manicure nail art pen in black and Claire's Paints in Rose, Violet and Sunshine for Miss Kitty herself :)

Ended up using a coat of Out the Door and Sally Hansen Double Duty to seal this mani up.

So that's it for today, hope you like the design! Thoughts or comments? Lemme know!

artistique-meg Sunday, May 9, 2010

My first nail art post is the nails I have done now. Marbling! Because it's simple (if you have the patience!) And you always come up with something different! Whenever I marble I always put some medical tape around my nail beds and fingers, it makes the clean up super easy!

With this mani I dunked my nail in a few times, layering the colours which turned out really cool!

For this design I used: Ultra3 in Honolulu for the base. For the marble; Ultra3 in Plum Violet and Rimmel London 60 Seconds in 430 Coralicious. As well as two glitters, Revlon Glimmer Gloss in Banana Blaze 615 and Sirray no. 117

The glitter is so subtle it's not even worth it! Next time I won't use those two polishes for marbling!

So here it is, my first post on blogger! I've had this account for quite a while, I mostly follow nail blogs and I figured, why not do my own?! I love painting my nails, I try not to do it every day but I find that difficult at times! Haha

I'm currently a beauty student, make-up application and design and nail technology (who-da thunk it!?)

On this blog I'll be sharing all things nails! Nail polishes and products I buy, want to buy, nail art I've created, or acrylics I've done! I'll also list all the products I use, in case you spot something you like!

So without further ado, welcome to my nail blog, I hope you enjoy it!
