Just a quick post to fit it in today for Georgia.

I did her acrylics the other week and painted some snowflakes on them today for her. Love how they turned out.

What I used: White nail striper, clear rhinestones and BYS in Out of the Blue glitter polish.

So, why these nails? Not for the Ashes!! My Dad is from England, my Mum is from Wales and a friend who's currently living in London (so damn jealous of you, Matt) suggested the flag for the design. At first I was hesitant, I wanted to do some more complicated nail art but these turned out really well and they are nowhere near as difficult as they look. I'd attempt the Australian flag but I don't think I could logically fit it in without it being tiny!

What I used: Beautiful Nails in White, nail art strippers in red and blue. Simple!

As always click the photo for a bigger image and thanks for looking!

It was suggested to me to do some Batman nails but I've already done that quite a few times...instead I decided to do little cute bats, including a lovely albino one! :)

I really like them! I think they're quite cute <3
What I used: Sportsgirl in Lace and Supernatural for the base. Then a coat of Mode in Diamonte because I haven't used glitter in so long! And just a basic white and black nail art striper/pen :D

Now I think my second favourite brand of nailpolish, at least affordable is the Sportsgirl Nail It...they're freaking awesome and come out with great colours that apply amazingly all the time. I went a little overboard and bought five because I was so far behind on their latest releases. So from left to right; Lace, Supernatural, Oasis, Sublime and Sunrise.

Okay and last but not least, I've been thinking. I love doing complicated and unconventional nail art but perhaps I could try to do a post a week of simple and easy nail art...for beginners or people that want to learn. I could maybe do picture tutorials for them too. Hmm..well, it's just a thought, let me know!

Thanks for looking!

Tonight I did some nails for my friend, Tina. She wanted acrylics but had no idea what kind of nail art she wanted to top it off with. So, I of course suggested The Mighty Boosh themed nails for her :) I'm pleased how they came out, they're really cute/rad.

What I used: Beautiful nails in Black, Hawley Nail Art in White.

Very simple but I love them. Thanks for looking!
Also, 47 followers for my blog!! Thanks guys! I should do a giveaway at 50! I'll have to think of what I can use as 'prizes'

artistique-meg Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Orange is my absolute favourite colour and I love anything orange flavoured so I decided to do another orange inspired mani :) This is super simple and anyone can try it!

My nails are super short now because I wanted a change. I'm loving having short nails but I still miss having lovely long feminine nails. I also accidentally broke half of my pinkie nail off a few weeks back so that's why it's teeny tiny. Anyway, on to the nails.

What I used: Rimmel 050 Tangerine Queen and Sure Promise nail pens in dark green, black and white.

I also wanted to share a photo from Halloween. Myself and my friend Tina had a 90s horror binge on Halloween and I decorated accordingly :)

Thanks for looking :)

Hey guys, sorry I've been away for such a long time, I've had a few major life changes. At first I had difficulty coping but things are getting better.

Anyway, Halloween is my favourite holiday and I always experiment with nails and make-up so I figured I'd do a Halloween post to get me back into the swing of things!

Count Dracula Nails!
What I used: Mode Cosmetics in VIP and Super Promise nail art stripers in red, black and white.

Frankenstein's Monster Nails!
What I used: Moss (unnamed) BYS in Flash Dance, Super Promise nail art stripers in black, white and dark green.

My boyfriend, David, took me to the Tim Burton Exhibition as a surprise and of course it was incredibly inspiring. I mean, seeing all his artwork was amazing. The shapes he creates in his drawings and sculptures are intriguing and sometimes disturbing. Still buzzing from the inspiration days later I tried to use the famous Burton swirl in my design...it changed from where I thought I was going with it but I still love it nonetheless and got a lot of compliments! :)

Here's a better photo, you can see the details;

What I used: Sportsgirl Nail It in Strike A Posie, Ultra3 in Wild Berry, Inglot in 540 (the sparkle black/grey), Hawley Nail Art Pen and simple rhinestones.

I'm only just starting to use rhinestones and whatnot on myself (got some from ebay) and I'm loving it-- I want more!
Thanks for looking!

artistique-meg Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I painted these nails for when I went over to Melbourne to see my lovely David, he likes him some Gloomy Bear :D So this photo was taken after I'd worn it for two weeks. Yes, two weeks, that's what to wonder of a layer of acrylic can do for your nails! It keeps them strong, helps them grow and your nail polish never chips.

I only recommend it if you're up for the maintenance though, I get lazy with it, as you can see these are in need of a refill but a lot of the time I just file them slightly and paint over it. LAZY! Anyway, to the point, the nails!

I love how they turned out and so did David, hurrah!

What I used: Beautiful Nails in White, Glossyblossom in  Mat Rose, Orly in Fair Godmother and Hawley Nail Art Pen in Black.

Nice and simple design that looks great in the end. Thanks for looking!

artistique-meg Saturday, July 31, 2010

Now I can't take credit for this design as it was the clients idea haha, I really liked how it turned out. I did these for my friend Meg's birthday night out. Cute little Hello Kitty faces on the ring finger and Hello Kitty bows on all the others. I'm really keen to try this one out on myself!

What I used: Beautiful Nails in White, Ultra3 in Honolulu, Maybelline Salon Expert in Cutie Pink and another Maybelline in a different pink shade that was hers and I can't remember the name of it! Hawley Manicure Pen in Black and some cute little rhinestones.

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!

Cute little cupcakes and donuts for today's design. I'm really liking these, they're all girly and pretty hehe. I like the background as it is too but I thought it was too simple to post on here because of the other stuff I've uploaded in the past.

Left Hand

Right Hand

That cupcake is a bit messed up but I really like the donuts on this hand so I had to share.

What I used: Glossyblosso in Mat Rose and Hawley Manicure Pen in Hot Pink for the background. Ultra3 in Spring Fling, Honolulu, and Bo Peep, Rossburn in Lilac, Satin in Shade 15, and 2 and Hawley Manicure Pen in Black.

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think!

For the graduation of my Cert II in Make-Up and Nails (which was a while ago now lol) I had to do a full look, I chose to do GaGa because I adore her. I did a pink and purple circa 2008 GaGa look and these are the nails I "designed" to go with the lightning bolt make-up.

What I used: ChiChi (the name has worn off) as a base, white, pink and black acrylic paint, Ultra3 in Purple Passion as well as a lovely Roseburn unnamed shimmer pink. Various rhinestones in all shapes and sizes were thrown on too!

I hope you like it, thanks for looking!

artistique-meg Monday, July 19, 2010

I'm really very pleased on how this came out, I started out doing something different then changed my mind and I'm glad I did. I really love the colours of this design. I love pink roses with a blue backdrop. I know they don't really look like roses but at least they look like a flower haha.

What I used (I used a lot for this one): BYS in Sunny Girl, Ultra3 in Honolulu, Sirray in 109 and Revlon in Pure Pearl for the yellow nails.
SportsGirl in Curiouser, Revlon in Magical and Pure Pearl for the blue nails.
Flowers: White acrylic paint for a base, Ultra3 in Bo Peep, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum, an old unnamed, unknown brand in a light pink. Moss (unnamed) and Ultra3 in Lagoon.

All in all, 12 polishes for this one!
Let me know what you think!

artistique-meg Sunday, July 18, 2010

At the suggestion of my man-friend I painted some Spider-Man nails. I think they're okay...the thumb/spider is good but I'm not too sure about the rest. Oh well, it was some good practice anyways.

What I used: Orly in Fairy Godmother for the base, Sirray #48 for the tips and Hawley Nail Art Pen & Brush for the spider and webbing.

Thanks for looking!

I love these nails, I think this will soon be my go to design when I can't think of anything else. It looks super cute and it's super easy! Just a few stripes and a Konad stamp and you're done!

What I used: Orly in Fairy Godmother, BYS in Tempt Me Tangerine, Ultra3 in Honolulu, Moss (unnamed), SportsGirl in Blue Lagoon, Roseburn (unnamed) and Maybelline New York in Cutie Pink. Over all that I used the Konad image plate m57 with the Special Black Polish.

I really do love this design. I'll have to try out a pastel rainbow next time!

artistique-meg Tuesday, July 6, 2010

I love Nintendo and Mario and I've wanted to do some kind of design like this for a long while but I've been too chicken. Last night I bit the bullet and just did it. I'm really pleased with the outcome of these nails. I think they came out great! I can't wait to do more like them in the future!

What I used; SportsGirl Nail It in Curiouser, Unnamed Moss colour and Revlon 020 Pure Pearl sponged lightly over the blue. For all the items I used acrylic paints. Topped it off with a few top coats to seal it up.

Thanks or looking!

artistique-meg Monday, July 5, 2010

Another quick design, I didn't want to do too much to it with this holographic polish as a base. It would just look too much!

What I used: Unnumbered Sirray Holographic polish and acrylic paints.

Wow this was a lazy/super quick update!

artistique-meg Sunday, July 4, 2010

I really loved this here mani, I think it's way cute. I'll totally do it again, or at least some oranges! It was fun to paint and quite simple too :)

What I used: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum with an old un-numbered Beautiful Nails coral orange sponges over it. BYS in Tempt Me Tangerine and Ultra3 in Honolulu and white acrylic paint for the oranges and lemons.

I have a question for you too! Do any of you have any suggestions for some designs? I had a list of what I wanted to do but I can't find it now. Besides, I'd like some fresh ideas.

Also, I have 24 followers, when the heck did that happen!?! Thanks so much everyone!!!

Alright, so I still have a few in my backlog of designs so I might post another tonight! I've been putting it off because I can't remember what polish I used for the pink colour =/
But anyway, this is the tropical leopard print that I really like, I might try a rainbow leopard print soon! When I was using Konad on this mani David was over and if I recall he was quite impressed with it, that made me smile.

What I used: BYS Tempt Me Tangerine, Ultra3 Honolulu and I still can't remember the pink... I used the Konad image plate m57 with the Special Black Polish.

I just entered this amazing contest! Go check it out, and fingers crossed for me! haha

I'll also be posting some more nail art later today!

artistique-meg Sunday, June 20, 2010

Wonder Woman!! Oh yeahh. Well, I did some Batman nails and so I figured I'd put some girl power out there too! I started with just the logo then decided to add her hot pants because it didn't feel like enough. I wish I had a yellow nail pen or something, then it wouldn't seem so streaky but oh well, this was the best I could do with my resources!

Here's a close up of the thumb so you can see the details;

What I used: Orly in Fairy Godmother for the base. Ultra3 in Honolulu for the logo, Sirray in 48 (blue) and 109 (gold) and white acrylic paint for the stars.

So, what do you think?

artistique-meg Saturday, June 19, 2010

It's been a little while but I've been busy! School is coming to an end and I've had David over to visit so finding the time to post has been difficult. I have however been taking photos of my manis so I have a back log to share.

The next one I'm sharing started off as a Tim Burton styled black and white stripes, we know he loves them! Then a day or so later I added the bows just to give it a little something extra.

What I used: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum and Hawley Manicure Nail Art Pen/Brush in black. For the bows I used a white acrylic paint as a base. Then used Orly in Fairy Godmother and L.A. Colors Nail Deco in another red (can't remember the name!) for the outline. Topped with Out The Door!

One last thing, I've had a few disasters with my nails recently, they've kept breaking constantly and one even split down the middle, very painfully. Yesterday I put some acrylics on to keep them strong for now and make sure my nail grows back correctly. Anyways, in a few posts time you'll see a drastic change in my nails so this is why, and also a warning! lol

artistique-meg Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Some friends and I helped out at a Hair show on the weekend and because I was too chicken to enter the nail art section I just painted one of the girls nails so I could say I at least "tried"
I was kicking myself when we got there, they winners received trophies! I could have had a chance at a trophy for nail art! Oh well, next year.

Anyways, Catherine has long lovely nails so I had a lot to work with which just made it ten times more exciting to have a go at something, I went for more detailed Cherry Blossoms this time around!

Forgive me, my camera was dying!

Here's a (kinda) better shot.

I really enjoyed myself with this design! However I can't recall all the products I used, I know the base is Curiouser by SportsGirl with some different whites and glitter sponged over it >.> and the white of the flowers is acrylic paint. I went in open to whatever products worked so I can't remember them all! If there is something you're dying to know just ask and I'll do my best to figure out what it was that I used!

I have some designs stocked up from the past however long so I'll share them as the days go on. I just finished some Wonder Woman nails which I'm stoked on so I can't wait for you all to see them.

Until next time, take care :)

artistique-meg Friday, June 4, 2010

First, sorry for the crappy webcam picture but it's the easiest way to show the design all together! I've been wanting to do a Batman design for Lord knows how long but have been too chicken to attempt the bat signal. But then it came to me, just like the Star Wars design, a "knuckle tattoo" I only had to do the logo twice haha. I think it's cool, a bit too simple than what I usually get up to but I'll fix that over the weekend!

What I used for this baby; SportsGirl in Curiouser and Blue Lagoon mixed for the base and Hawely Manicure's Nail Art Pen and Brush in Black for the details.

So whatcha think? D'ya have any ideas for some other designs for me? :)

artistique-meg Monday, May 31, 2010

Just a quick update tonight. I'm suffering lady cramps today. They hurts :(
Anyhoot, I wanted purple nails today and I love orange with purple so I ended up with little monsters on my nails (hehe GaGa reference) I think they're cute...though I got a little impatient so they're a bit messed up now >.>

And because I can, a better shot of the thumb! Grrr! hehe

What I used: Sirray in 111 as my base. Rimmel London in Tangerine Queen for the monsters. Hawley Manicure pen in black for all of the black and white acrylic paint.

artistique-meg Sunday, May 30, 2010

I stole Renee again and did her nails, this time with chocolate icing and sprinkles! The sprinkles could have been better but I still think it's cute :)

What I used: Avon in French Tip Lilac for the base colour. Acrylic paint for the chocolate. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum, Modelista in hot pink and the nameless lavender again!

I'm resisting from painting my nails again this weekend, I feel like I should keep the ocean theme for a while as it's the most complex thing I've done in a while so it deserves some extra time. But I have all these ideas buzzing in my head of what I want to do next! Some say I'm obsessed...

artistique-meg Saturday, May 29, 2010

I set out to do something different last night and I ended up having a lot of fun with it. I used paint this time around as there were a lot of layers and I could imagine the sticky mess I'd be in if I just used polish. So, here we have it, my under the ocean/underwater/sea inspired manicure.

Left Hand:
From thumb to little finger: Clam and seaweed, a little fishy, seaweed and bubbles, seaweed and coral, and finally a starfish (sorta)

Right Hand:
From little finger to thumb: a fishy!, seaweed, another clam, coral and seaweed and finally another starfish and seaweed.

I like how it turned out and it was a lot of fun experimenting with this mani. I'd like to attempt it again with some other ideas...more than just clams and starfishies lol

What I used: On my thumb, ring finger and index finger I blended Curiouser by SportsGirl on the tip of the nail with clear polish.
On my little finger and pointer I blended Curiouser by SportsGirl, Blue Lagoon by SportsGirl and Blue Steel by Chi Chi again with clear polish.
Topped them with a coat of Blue Glitter by Ultra3 then used acrylic paints for the foreground all topped with two coats of Out the Door to seal them up.

Two things to talk about here today. First, I was given the Sweet Blog Award by Less Than A Queen :D
I'm really starting to feel like I'm part of the Blogger/Nail Blogger community now so thanks so much everyone for that!

Here's what you guys have to do:
- Make a post about the award including the picture and mention the person who gave it to you.
- Put the award on your blog.
- Let your nominated 10 know you've awarded them by leaving a comment.

Now I have to nominate 10 others! Unfortunately, a lot of people already have this award so I'm just going to nominate a few that I don't believe have it...

You all deserve it, ladies :)

Second, I've entered a contest by Jackie at Candy Coated Tips. It's purple themed! Click on the photo below if you'd like to check it out/enter too. I'm loving the polishes up for grabs, lookit those colours!

I painted my nails last night and I've got the photos and everything done but I don't want to overload on designs and look like I'm obsessed with doing my nails (even though I am) so that will be posted some time today. Also, Renee asked me to play with her nails again so I should be doing that today...I have to come up with some ideas...

Thanks for reading! :)

artistique-meg Friday, May 28, 2010

Wow, so much to say in this here post. First, I'm now a member of the Gumleaf Mafia which is so darn awesome! Those are the girls that inspired me to record and share what I like to do with my nails and now I'm listed with them. Ohh yeah. Also, it's introduced some new followers/subscribers to my blog so thank you so much! I think that's super awesome and all that jazz!

Second, I cut mah nails, the length was driving me crazy! However, I cut too much than I intended but hey, they'll grow. Lately I've been throwing on a really thin layer of acrylic to help keep my nails strong, they're so soft usually and it also stops polish from chipping so that's awesome.

Anyway, to the nail art! I messed around trying to find something to do with this length so I tried that "on nail marbling" where you blend with a top coat. Worked out quite cool if you ask me ;)

What I used; Again, that unamed lavender that I'm in love with! Blending with Ultra3 in Bo Peep. Lastly CoverGirl in White Night for the peace signs and finally a coat of Out The Door.

What I want to ask is if anyone has advice for nail art for shorter nails? What do you think would look good on my nails? haha

artistique-meg Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Hello, hello there! I've tried out something different and gone with a "pretty" design. Kawaii Strawberries. I personally really like it, however shoddy my strawberries look. It all comes with practice, as they say.
The colours are close to true in the photograph however I could only take the photo early this morning so it's a bit lighter than it is in person. Still a good representations though.

What I used: Again the nameless lavender! Ultra3's Baby Pink and Bo Peep mixed for the strawberries. Ultra3 in honolulu, ChiChi in Jitterbug and Sportsgirl in Duchess mixed for the green. And CoverGirl in White Night for the background.

So, what do you think?

artistique-meg Sunday, May 23, 2010

Yep, got bored of the pandas. I've been trying to figure out how to do a set of Star Wars nails for a while and I came up with this. Much like a knuckle tattoo, its the title of the Saga and Vader and Luke's light sabers :) I didn't think I'd pull this one off, "writing" with my left hand but I think it looks pretty good!

Here's a close up of the thumbs/light sabers.

What I used! Rimmel London 60 Seconds in Black Out. CoverGirl in White Night. I mixed Ultra3's Honolulu and Rimmel London's Sunshine for the yellow. NYC in Snazzle, some nameless red lol and Chi Chi in Jitterbug.

So, what you think?

artistique-meg Saturday, May 22, 2010

I was quite bored this evening and had a hankering for doing some nail art but alas, I like my Tiny Pandas too much and think they should last more than a day, at least! So I borrowed my brother's lovely girlfriend Renee and had some fun. Plus she gave me the divine lavender colour I used for the base coat! I've been looking for a purple in that shade for quite a while. I love how this mani turned out, it's quite lovely!

What I used: Rossburn Cosmetics, which has no name! The lavender colour. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Platinum, Ultra3 in Baby Pink, Ultra3 in Bo Peep and Hawley Manicure Pen/Brush in Black.

artistique-meg Friday, May 21, 2010

Guess what? I'm sick again! Yay! :( Caught another cold, this one is extra horrible. So last night I thought to make myself smile I'll do some cute/colourful nails. That failed, completely. I just couldn't get it right so I just threw on a colour and called it a night.

I wasn't satisfied with it this morning so I thought for a while and decided I'd try again. And here is my result, Tiny Pandas! (Get it, like Giant Pandas haha) It's cute and makes me smile when I feel like crap so it's done it's job!

This is a picture in the sun so you can see the prettiness of the silver. And here's a close up of the thumb.

Overall I'm really pleased with this design, it's really quite cute. I'd like to add some bamboo the next time I attempt it!

What I used!
Base Coat:
  • One coat of N.Y.C in Snazzle
  • One coat of Satin in #37 (rainbow glitter)
Pandas:
  • CoverGirl in White Night
  • Hawley Manicure pen in Black
  • Ultra3 in Baby Pink for the cheeks :)

I've been thinking about what else I can add to my blog to help other nail geeks and to get in deeper about my hobby. I'm thinking about sharing what tools I use to get the looks I want, as I don't have the "official" tools (lack of funds) And also how I organise my polishes. I'm not sure if many people would be interested but I think it could entertain myself!

Anyway, until next time, take care!
